Loja das Conservas Macau

Canned sardines are regarded as economical delicacies which are well-known for their convenience, nutritional value and distinctive flavour.  The historical journey of this humble fish from the ocean to the can is a fascinating tale of innovation, industry, and global culinary influence, harking back to the 19th century.   This global commodity was produced across Europe, including Portugal which developed its own thriving sardine canning industry and leveraged the abundant local sardine stocks.

The sardines conversation activity led to the establishment of the ANICP (National Association of Canned Fish Industries) which strives to promote the Portuguese canning industry and highlights the uniqueness of the seal, bringing tradition, quality, sustainability, differentiation and authenticity to the canned sardines.   To sustain the legacy of this industry, ANCIP founded Loja das Conserva Macau (known as LCM) which is currently nestled in the culturally-rich Tapa Village, with an aim to promote and showcase the canned fish industry to local and international consumers.

For the first time, the association has brought together 19 canned fish producers, creating a unique project in the international market that highlights the image and quality of the Portuguese canned fish industry. The customised marketing channels, innovative sales methods and product positioning, as well as the creative packaging, provide local and international consumers with all finest products they need.

The store is a treasure trove of over 50 brands delivering 600 different types of canned products, which are still under ongoing development and innovation. Some products are exclusively for export, which can only be discovered at LCM.
