The Temperature of the City
This mid-summer, Taipa Village Art Space is honored to showcase the Watercolor collections and Japanese Paper collections created by Blue Chan – an illustrator and comic artist in Macau. These 2 collections illustrate a number of scenes associated with the artist’s travel journey, her perspective on Macao heritage, architecture, festival, cultural and leisure scenes that unfold her idyllic emotions, allowing audience to feel the temperature of the city.
Blue Chan’s Background
Blue Chan, an illustrator and comic artist graduated from BA Graphic Design at Macao Polytechnic Institute, is born and raised in Macao. Constantly she contributed her artworks to a local manga magazine called “Mind²”, projects including “Journey to Yunnan” and “Xiao Yao You”, etc.
In 2014, she collaborated with Instituto Cultural de Macau (ICM) on a project called “Macao Cultural and Creative Map”, in which she illustrated and designed a comic-style map portraying the cultural scenery and creative scenes of Macau using watercolor, and the map has already been published in its sixth edition.
In 2016, she started having her one-year residency at 10 Fantasia, participating in a project called “Artists-in-residence scheme”. Two solo exhibitions,“Blue Room In The Sky” and “Treasure Map”, were being held since then.
